Glimpse into the future

**Note: This post was written back in April! I found it in draft mode & finally finished it. Busy much?! The sentiment remain true regardless of the date.**

I've been given a glimpse into my future. Yes, it's true. “How?”, you may ask. And no, I didn't go see a psychic or some such thing. I'll tell you how. The other day the husband and I dropped our two gremlins off to spend a few days with the grandparents. Hallelujah for grandparents!! Seriously. Without them, we would never be able to do anything. Oh, sure, we could find a babysitter for an occasional night out but nothing like this… Five nights and five days of being off the parenting hook, if you will.

So, back to how I've seen my future, I've just spent the whole day doing WHATEVER I want to do! I went and had a pedicure done yesterday, had spa treatments done today, and tomorrow the husband & I are flying out to Las Vegas for some REAL adult fun. Gambling, drinking, dancing, dining at fancy restaurants that have even fancier names, and more gambling! Yeah, I know, we're probably going to hell but at least we'll have good company.

See, the thing is I'm CERTAIN I'll miss my girlies when they're not living at home with us, however that time is not now. I enjoy the breaks that we get to take from each other and truth be told the gremlins love it too because they're endlessly spoiled by their grandparents. I'm pretty sure they're happier with the grandparents than with us. And why wouldn't they be?! They're getting everything they want, whenever they want it. Practically on a silver platter!

I guess I'll just have to be patient and yet again savor the now for I know that only too soon it'll be the future and I'll miss these crazy child rearing days.

Elf on the shelf

You see this innocent looking elf sitting so benignly on the shelf? Yeah, it’s a huge thorn in my side! Why? You may ask. Because it is just ONE MORE THING I have to remember in the month of December in addition to the dozen birthdays and two dozen Christmas gifts I have to remember to get, that’s why!!

If you don’t know about this Elf on the Shelf guy, then let me fill you in on the deal… so last year my mother decided we too should enjoy the lovely tradition of the elf on a shelf. This little elf comes with a storybook explaining all about how ‘Clyde’ -as he is known in our house- comes to stay during December to watch the boys and/or girls to make sure they are being good children and then every night he “leaves” to report to Santa Claus as to whether or not they’re behaving. Then he “returns” the next day in a new location somewhere in your home. Can you see where this is going?

I’ve forgotten about moving him 3 of the 7 days of the month already! Oh, I eventually remember to move him but usually it’s the next morning. Last year I lost track of the number of times I awoke in the middle of the night only to scramble outta bed to move him. Last night I forgot entirely & when the gremlins were leaving for school this morning, Pumpkin asked where Clyde was and I said, “Oh S#%T!!” not out loud -obviously- but in my head because he was in exactly the same spot as yesterday!!

I’ll have to come up with a clever story to explain why he didn’t move. Awesome. So much fun!

Tell Me Thursday – 4th Edition

So, this week on TMT I’ll be explaining this Wordless Wednesday photo of a sailboat. I took this photo nearly 4 1/2 years ago. The husband & I were vacationing with our best friends in Key West, beautiful place btw, I’ve used several other photos from that trip as previous WW posts. And unfortunately I don’t have time to link them in this post. Sorry, you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or go look through all my other WW posts.

Anywhoozlebee, the four of us decided that we wanted to go snorkeling way out in the middle of the ocean ~not really but it sorta felt that way~ so while we were heading out to the snorkeling location we spotted this sailboat in the distance.

I was expecting to be sea sick for the whole time we were out on the boat but surprisingly I was quite dandy. I’m happy to report that we had a fantastic time and saw some really cool old wreckage.

Tuesday Toot – 5th edition

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Tuesday Toot post. May hap I haven’t had much to toot about lately but any whoozlebee here I am & I have something to toot about. Yay me!

Last week a friend of mine, who just happens to write a weekly column, asked me if I wanted to have my little blog possibly listed in an article on local blogs/bloggers… well, hell yeah I want to be possibly listed – where do I sign up??

So, long story short, she took my web addy as well as a couple other awesome local bloggers I recommended and voila! by Friday the story & our websites were listed in two of our local papers. How cool is that?!

I suppose my excitement about being listed in a local paper as oppose to a national paper might seem a bit silly but it is a big deal to a small time, non-celebrity, regular ol’ person such as myself. I’ve cut the article out to save for posterity. I might even frame it! Does that sound too pathetic? Well, I don’t care. Let it be just the start of articles featuring my “writing” (and yes, I’ve used the quotations appropriately) or blogging.

I’m linking the web version of the article in case you’re interested in reading it… but I have to say that for some strange reason they have my previous website addy listed instead of my current version and not all of the bloggers I mentioned above were shown -except in the paper edition.

I’m randomness personified these days

I came across this lovely blog through twitter and then found this hilarious blog. It was at The Un Mom blog that I found she had created a ~perfect for me~ Random Tuesday Thoughts meme. Why is this perfect for me? Because I can’t seem to pull together whole cohesive posts with full sentences about something of interest/import these days. Therefore, let the random thoughts commence…

As a mom to two girl children, I never thought I’d know the names to a bunch of Pokemon characters. But I’ll be honest, now that I’ve watched so many t.v. episodes & read so many story books with them that I could tell you what happens next, I’ve come to love Pokemon, too. Piplup, Pikachu, Sudowoodo, Buneary, and Turtwig are my favorites.

I hate how my hands get so dry & cracked during the winter. And when I say dry & cracked I mean cracked with blood even.

People are always amazed by how much I love 50 cent – as in rap music, hard core PIMP – 50 cent. Sometimes I’m amazed how much I like him too.

My thoughts have been preoccupied with my Dad’s health since Thanksgiving when we found out that he has stage 4 cancer. This is the first time that I’ve written about it. Perhaps at some point I’ll write more about what havoc has been unleashed within my brain by this revelation.

I was absolutely certain that I wouldn’t like Facebook & thought it was pointless but I was WAY wrong. I have had so much fun reconnecting with friends from elementary school (my BEST friend from 4th grade thru JR high found me on FB after 25 ish years), junior high, and high school. LOVE IT!

Struggling with the fact that my 1st baby is now 9 years old. On top of that, my 2nd baby is turning 4 years old next month. Where the hell did the time go?

Extremely unhappy with the fact that I am a little bit closer to 40 than I’d care to admit.

Pumpkin cried the most heart wrenching cry for her sister who is spending the next few days with the Nana & Papa. She didn’t cry about not being able to go with, no she cried because she wanted her sister and she wanted her NOW!

So I suppose that will do for now.
