Reduce, Reuse, Recycle or more like reuse, recycle and reuse again

The title of this post might lead you to believe that I’m gonna discuss how to be good to planet Earth. But you’d be WRONG! I don’t really care about the planet. I kid, I kid. I care a little. Ok, so really this is an idea that I picked up from Enna’s blog and specifically her post “Pork from a year ago”. It got me thinking that I should reminisce about the past some more and maybe share with you good folks a few of my posts from the past. Sort of like ghosts from the past. But less ghostly. It only took me months to complete. Heh.

Now, are you starting to get the tie-in with my title? You all have brains, I’m sure I don’t need to explain it anymore. Reading through these old post also reminds me that there once was a time when I actually wrote posts with a central topic, a beginning, a middle, and an end. Oh well. Life is busier now. And I don’t have as much time to focus on my writing.

I’ll start this out with a post from my other blog that I seem to have forgotten existed until a nice person commented on this post about growing up. The scary thing is it was from nearly 3 freakin’ years ago. Holy mother of —. THREE years. And the angst that I was feeling then has multiplied by infinity. You can do the math.

This post is one in which I frustrate my daughter. Mwahahahahaha. I’m so glad I get to torture her every now and again.

Still haven’t figured out how to keep everyone from yelling at each other.

How about this… mommy has a tantrum the likes of which no one has ever seen before. I still haven’t gotten my time out.

Bedtime = funtime or not really. Although I must say, it is getting a smidge easier since Pumpkin is getting older.

In which I have to have the talk with Honey bunny.

I need a wife to do my laundry cause I really don’t like to do laundry. But then who in their right mind likes to do laundry?

Random Tandem

I don’t know what the hell the title means, either. I just felt like rhyming I guess. Because tandem by definition means: one following or behind the other and that doesn’t have anything to do with this post. So moving on now…

My “baby” turned 4 yrs old yesterday and I was all set to write a post about it but this is as far as I got:

I’ve been thinking about my little Pumpkin turning 4 years old today. It amazes me that so many years are gone, *snap* just like that. My once tiny little jaundice Pumpkin ~hence the nickname~ is now a petite little girl. With a very big attitude. How big? Hmmmm, lets just say as big as the Montana sky. Yeah it’s that big.

I’m getting pathetically nostalgic these days and this post will be no exception. It literally seems like yesterday that she was born. THANK GOD that isn’t the case but it really feels like so little time has passed although obviously much time has gone by. We were living in a different house at the time. And really so much was different. I had a 5 year old who was half way through Kindergarten, two dogs always under foot, a MUCH smaller house payment, and a lovely swimming pool.

I couldn’t get any further than that. Probably cause I got way off base & couldn’t figure a way back to my topic what with all the work I had to do, prepping items for the CPA, taking Honey bunny to karate, life, so on and so forth.

Speaking of the CPA, I got the last of our tax papers sent out to him today. *huge sigh* Now I just get to deal with the 50,000 questions that will be thrown at me. Oh, btw, we’ve already filed an extension for the business taxes & no doubt one will be filed for our personal stuff when April 15th rolls around and this shit is no where near done. Watch, now that I’ve said that, this will be the one year they finish by the deadline. Bwhahahahahahahaha. But in all fairness I did wait until March 24th to mail the info to them. So really it’s all my fault.

Only 38 pages left in this month’s book club book and if you missed last week’s RTT then here is the link to that post where I mention the book with helpful link to amazon for product description (and I think I need to talk with someone about gettin’ some $$$ for all the linking I do to them). I have really enjoyed this book & CAN’T wait to discuss it with the ladies.

It’s my turn to pick for next month’s book club choice & I’ve picked The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie.

It’s 10:03pm right now and I think I’m going to wrap this RTT up so that I can get to sleep at a moderately decent hour. Must get up in the AM and exercise, damn it. I’m already thinking about hitting the snooze button.

Tuesday Toot – 5th edition

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Tuesday Toot post. May hap I haven’t had much to toot about lately but any whoozlebee here I am & I have something to toot about. Yay me!

Last week a friend of mine, who just happens to write a weekly column, asked me if I wanted to have my little blog possibly listed in an article on local blogs/bloggers… well, hell yeah I want to be possibly listed – where do I sign up??

So, long story short, she took my web addy as well as a couple other awesome local bloggers I recommended and voila! by Friday the story & our websites were listed in two of our local papers. How cool is that?!

I suppose my excitement about being listed in a local paper as oppose to a national paper might seem a bit silly but it is a big deal to a small time, non-celebrity, regular ol’ person such as myself. I’ve cut the article out to save for posterity. I might even frame it! Does that sound too pathetic? Well, I don’t care. Let it be just the start of articles featuring my “writing” (and yes, I’ve used the quotations appropriately) or blogging.

I’m linking the web version of the article in case you’re interested in reading it… but I have to say that for some strange reason they have my previous website addy listed instead of my current version and not all of the bloggers I mentioned above were shown -except in the paper edition.

I’m randomness personified these days

I came across this lovely blog through twitter and then found this hilarious blog. It was at The Un Mom blog that I found she had created a ~perfect for me~ Random Tuesday Thoughts meme. Why is this perfect for me? Because I can’t seem to pull together whole cohesive posts with full sentences about something of interest/import these days. Therefore, let the random thoughts commence…

As a mom to two girl children, I never thought I’d know the names to a bunch of Pokemon characters. But I’ll be honest, now that I’ve watched so many t.v. episodes & read so many story books with them that I could tell you what happens next, I’ve come to love Pokemon, too. Piplup, Pikachu, Sudowoodo, Buneary, and Turtwig are my favorites.

I hate how my hands get so dry & cracked during the winter. And when I say dry & cracked I mean cracked with blood even.

People are always amazed by how much I love 50 cent – as in rap music, hard core PIMP – 50 cent. Sometimes I’m amazed how much I like him too.

My thoughts have been preoccupied with my Dad’s health since Thanksgiving when we found out that he has stage 4 cancer. This is the first time that I’ve written about it. Perhaps at some point I’ll write more about what havoc has been unleashed within my brain by this revelation.

I was absolutely certain that I wouldn’t like Facebook & thought it was pointless but I was WAY wrong. I have had so much fun reconnecting with friends from elementary school (my BEST friend from 4th grade thru JR high found me on FB after 25 ish years), junior high, and high school. LOVE IT!

Struggling with the fact that my 1st baby is now 9 years old. On top of that, my 2nd baby is turning 4 years old next month. Where the hell did the time go?

Extremely unhappy with the fact that I am a little bit closer to 40 than I’d care to admit.

Pumpkin cried the most heart wrenching cry for her sister who is spending the next few days with the Nana & Papa. She didn’t cry about not being able to go with, no she cried because she wanted her sister and she wanted her NOW!

So I suppose that will do for now.

Thank you for the Charming Blog Award

Wow! That was the first word that came to mind when saw that I had received the Charming Blog Award from the very nice guy behind the Building Camelot blog. And if I could, I’d give it right back to him! But where’s the fun in that?

The following words are to travel with the award and give you an idea of the meaning of the award: “These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

So now, I have the challenging task of selecting 8 blogs upon which to bestow this award. Hmmmm. This might be tougher than I thought… only 8?

Without further ado:
1. Catnip and Coffee
2. A Gentleman’s Domain
3. The Young and the Restless
4. Slackermama
5. It’s A Blog Eat Blog World
6. Mommy Gossip
7. Good and Crazy People
8. Double Agent Girl

Thanks again to Building Camelot for this award. Now, you peeps listed above… pass it on!

What, only ONE embarrassing moment?

Really, I’m not kidding.  Just writing about only ‘an’ embarrassing moment is a challenge.  I’ve been blessed with many, many embarrassing moments as gifts from my children, my husband, and life in general!

Here is one I wrote about a year ago now that I’ll share with you again.  And since we are one the subject of “feminine products”; we were at Honey Bunny’s karate class a few months back, Pumpkin was bored (as often happens with small children) so she began digging around in my purse, and pulled out tampons & panty liners.  NICE!  Well if it hadn’t been observed, then no harm done, right?  Well, unfortunately for me, she pulled them out, waved them about, and was yelling “Mommy, how come you have these in here too?!”  This, of course, got a few chuckles out of the other Moms.  I immediately grabbed the “items” out of her chubby little hands to shove back into the depths of my purse before any of the instructors or students saw what she was brandishing about.

Man, I love my kids!

I’m your mother

I’m your mother, not your friend.  I will forever remember this statement made by my stepmom.  You have plenty of friends, she’d tell me, your mother is not your friend.  I didn’t totally agree with it at the time & I don’t think I agree with it now.  My own mom was more in the middle on this.  She was the disciplinarian, the teacher, and the “friend”.

Obviously I didn’t tell my mom all the things I was gonna do (that might have gotten me in trouble & some times she found out so I did get in trouble) – like a few of those parties I went to – but I think I could have talked to her about important stuff.

I want my daughters to be able to tell me whatever, even if it’s stuff I don’t want to hear.  Especially if it’s stuff I don’t want to hear… that’s the real deal, the topics that matter most to them, undoubtedly.

Do I want them to go to those parties?  Not really.  But did those experience shape who I am today, Hell Ya.  Will they get into trouble if they go to those parties?  Only if they lie about it.  And then only after they are home safe.  THEN will they get it.  I’m kidding.

Will I be able to be their friend not just their mom?  I like to think so.  Probably I’m delusional and they won’t want me to know anything about anything they’ve got going on.  We shall see.
