Not sure about ya’ll but I think I’ve just about recovered from the over-indulgence of the last few weeks (and getting ready for more in the next few weeks to come). Let me get you up to speed…. Every year we take all our employees & spouse, or significant other, or friend to Las Vegas for our Company Holiday Party. So we went a couple weeks ago. You can read more here. I’ll wait….
You’re back? OK, moving on. Well, we had an absolute blast! I mean, I can’t really speak for them but I had a blast, so that’s all that truly matters, right? And, yes, as stated in my other post, I gambled A LOT and many different types of games. I killed it on Craps. One night I rolled, and this is not an exaggeration, 67 times. I know this because the guy next to me kept track. I even had people betting their money on numbers for me. And I rolled them! So they gave me money. Apparently, I rolled a bunch of numbers for this one guy & he made a bunch of money. Lucky him.
I played Pai Gow, Let it Ride, & Black Jack but did not do so well. I still had fun while playing but it is immensely more enjoyable to win money while playing. There were a couple time when I might as well have crumpled up a $100 bill and thrown it at the dealer’s head, for all the good it did me gambling it! And it probably would have been more satisfying, if I had. At least I could have laughed about it hitting them in the face.
So, anywho, we gambled at many different casinos along the strip & downtown, in other words, I made deposits all over Las Vegas. I don’t expect to win boat loads of money when we go there, I know the reality of it is that the casino is going to win WAY more times than I am. That’s why they are in that business, to make money. Or take money, I should say. Then again, it’s not as if I were being forced to play the games, so I suppose “take” isn’t exactly the appropriate term. All right, enough of my whining.
Friday night, four of us made it to Body English at The Hard Rock but only ended up dancing for a couple hours. 😦 I could have danced all night! Two hours wasn’t nearly enough ~so much for me not whining~ but oh well. It was fun while it lasted and that’s what’s important. We had a VIP table with our own server who constantly poured drinks for us. And these drinks were toxic! In a good way, if that’s at all possible. They were delicious ~although really, really strong~ maybe that would explain their deliciousness? On the number of occasions we poured our own drinks, they were roughly 3/4 alcohol to 1/4 mixer. Ooops. Well, we were on vacation….
Saturday night, we had dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant. Yummy! Again, it seemed as if everyone was having a good time, enjoying their meals & the conversations. In case you were interested, I had Organic Chicken Breast with Garlic Mash potato, I know, it sounds yummy so you can imagine how yummy it tasted. Oh, oh, wait, I forgot to mention the Truffled Potato Chips with Maytag Blue Cheese! They were unbelievably tasty. Afterwards, we went back downtown for more gambling. First, each of us at different games but eventually we all ended up playing poker together, which is funny, because we play poker together every few weeks anyway. I guess it goes to show that we enjoy each other’s company. Or that we can’t bear to be seperated. I like to think it’s that we have so much fun when we are all together.
Usually we have a fairly early flight out on Sunday. Forcing us to get up early & rush to get ready, pack, checkout, get to the airport, etc., etc. This year we elected to take a later flight! Hallelujah, Hallelujah. No, getting up early, no rushing to pack, no hurrying to checkout, or scrambling to arrive at the airport in time. Just a relaxed morning WITH breakfast at a restaurant, even. We got to the airport in plenty of time & no huge lines. Amazing. There were only a couple minor disturbances. One girl left her wallet in the hotel room safe! Which we were able to get. And one guy had a missing bag from the bell service. Which they found immediately. Yeah!
So I will say again, we (and by we, I really mean me) had a wonderful time, but it was over too quickly as far as I’m concerned. We had to return to reality, unfortunately. We’ve got those kids, jobs, homes, and responsibilities and all. Like Thanksgiving Dinner. Which we were hosting at our house for the 7th year in a row. Not that I mind. I kinda prefer it actually. And you can read what I have to say about GRAVY ~and Thanksgiving dinner in general~ in this post.
Thanks for listening (or reading, if you must be technical),
